What are wrinkles?

Can we lower the chance of getting wrinkles?

Yes! some of the following tips can be followed to reduce the severity of the appearance and spread of wrinkles:

  • Avoid unprotected sun exposure, by using sunscreen constantly and reapply it every two hours.
  • Quit smoking as it appears to be one of the factors that increase the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Follow a healthy diet and consume more foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Moisturizing the skin constantly, dry skin is more prone to wrinkles.

What are the active ingredients in fighting wrinkles?

There are many available products that work on reducing the appearance of wrinkles by supporting skin proteins, the most important of which is collagen, and these products differ in the degree of wrinkle reduction and their mechanism of action, the active ingredients present in some products include the following:

  • Vitamin A derivatives : available in the form of a topical creams, and has long-term effectiveness in reducing wrinkles, however it should be noted that it can cause skin redness and irritation at the first use, to avoid this side effect you can start by using smaller concentrations, or space out the times of use until the skin gets used to it.  
  • Antioxidants: Including products that contain vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, and beta-carotene, but studies showing the effectiveness of beta-carotene are limited.  
  • Alpha Hydroxy acids: These acids provide protection against wrinkles and are considered safe for general use, those include glycolic acid and lactic acid.

Skin moisturizers: They include the daily moisturizers, and the serums of Hyaluronic acid. These reduce the severity of the appearance of wrinkles, as moisturizing the skin is highly important when it comes to wrinkles, but it must be noted that it does not eliminate its presence in the long term.

What are the cosmetic procedures available to help with wrinkles?

 But what if the previous compounds failed in reducing wrinkles, or you want to try more effective, faster ways? Here we will mention the most prominent cosmetic procedures that are recommended to be applied under the supervision of specialists:

1. Botox:    
Is one of the most common methods in masking wrinkles, and many artists and celebrities resort to it due to its effectiveness that lasts from three to four months. In this procedure, the specialist sheds laser beams on the skin cells to remove them, and this raises the temperature of the next layer, known as the dermis, which stimulates the growth of new collagen fibers, and with time recovery of the epidermal layer, it becomes tighter than before and has a smoother texture.    
   
4. Fillers:   
which is based on injecting the area with filling substances such as fats, collagen and hyaluronic acid, however its effect is temporary and you constantly need to refill the area.   

5. Facelift:   
Similar to the previous methods, Facelift is a surgical procedure that includes removing excess skin and fat from the face or neck, and tightening facial tissues to get rid of wrinkles, and recovery from this procedure takes from two to four weeks, during which one may suffer from swelling and swelling at the site of the surgery, Soon, however, these symptoms disappear and the wrinkles are disappear.
